{{/presale}}The variety of animal-themed silver bullion coins from the Perth Mint grew in 2018 to include a fifth entry in the annual release collection. Following the Kookaburra, Koala, Wedge Tail Eagle, and Kangaroo, the Emu joined the group in 2018. With limited mintages in both the Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof versions, these coins sell fast and are incredibly popular. Today, you have a chance to purchase 2020 Proof Australian Emu 1 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The emu is the second-largest bird in the world behind the ostrich and is the largest bird species living on the Australian continent. A flightless bird, like the ostrich, the emu has powerful legs that can propel it up to speeds of 50 kilometers per hour as it runs across the Outback. The native bird species has featured on silver Australian bullion coins since 2018.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2020 Proof Australian Emu 1 oz Silver Coins is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile bust of Her Majesty showcases the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown. Commissioned by King George IV in late 1820 during the first year of his reign, this piece from the official Crown Jewels includes a total of 1,333 diamonds in its setting that weight more than 300 karats. Inscriptions on this side include Elizabeth II, Australia, 1 Dollar.
Reverse
The reverse elements of the 2020 Proof Australian Emu Silver Coin include an image of two emus. These emus have found a small watering hole in the Outback and have stopped to rest and rehydrate. One of the emus is shown seated on its hind legs while the other is standing watch for any threats. The design is the third in the series and comes from Natasha Muhl. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read Australian Emu and 2020 1 oz 9999 Silver.
History
The Australian Emu 1 oz Silver Coins debuted in 2018 with a 1 oz silver bullion coin. The series features 1 silver bullion and proof coins with new images used for the reverse each year. This is in keeping with the changing designs on the Australian Kookaburra, Australian Koala, and Australian Wedge Tail Eagle Series.
