Provident Metals is pleased to offer the New Zealand Mint’s 2017 1 oz Silver Niue Athenian Owl Stackable Coin from our extensive selection of private and sovereign silver bullion. Each coin functions as legal tender, consists of one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, and is minted in the IRA-approved New Zealand Mint. And because these coins are minted in an ISO 9001 facility and are backed by a sovereign entity, they qualify to be included in a self-directed precious metals IRA.
This beautiful silver round was inspired by the Athenian Owl Tetradrachm, which 2,000 years ago was the most influential coin in the world. The original coins were created with a hand-chiseled die of soft iron that was struck onto a heated blank. This unique minting process produced an uneven surface in the field.
The reverse of this 1 oz silver round features the Athenian Owl, and captures the craftsmanship of the original coin. The reverse also features a crescent moon, an olive branch of peace, and the inscriptions “AOE”, “2017”, and “1 OZ .999 FINE SILVER”. “AOE” stands for “Alethia Orno Eternia,” which translates to “Truth Honor Forever.” The field has an uneven, mirrored finish, inspired by the manufacturing process of the original coin.
The obverse of this round features the Rand-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, and the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “NIUE,” “TWO DOLLARS,” and “2017.”
This unique silver round also features a reeded rim and border for ease of stacking.
This round will ship in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, precisely as we receive it from the mint. Provident Metals does not selectively ship or retain silver bullion based on coin, round, or bar quality. Individual rounds ship in a plastic flip, quantities of 20 in a mint tube, and quantities of 500 in a mint monster box.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
