{{/presale}}The Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins are the only annual bullion specimens from the United States Mint with new designs on the coins surface area each year. Dating back to 1997, the Proof American Eagle Platinum Coin has had a new reverse design each year. In 2018, the series also got a new obverse design of Liberty that is planned for use through 2020. Provident Metals currently has the 2016-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coin in near-perfect condition for you to purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase these 2016-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins, you receive an item with a near-perfect certification. The PF69 certification means the coins have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to the areas outside of the primary focal points.
The included UCAM designation stands for ultra-cameo and refers to the strong, frosted design elements that contrast with the deeply-mirrored, clear background fields. The Early Release label means the coins were received for grading within the first 30 days of release by the US Mint in 2016.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2016-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Platinum Coins is a depiction of the Statue of Liberty. Created in 1997 by John Mercanti for the series, this image of Liberty has featured on the bullion coins obverse since 1997 and was used on the obverse of the proof coins from 1997 to 2017.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2016-W Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins includes the image of Liberty holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. This design was part of the brief 2015-2016 Torches of Liberty design series. The reverse designs in this collection were from artists in the US Mint Artistic Infusion Program and were designed to represent the core values of Liberty and freedom in the United States.
History
The Proof American Eagle Platinum Coins are famous for going through various design programs that change the reverse imagery each year. The only years not to offer specialized design series include the 2003-2005 date marks and the 1997 and 2017 coins, the latter two of which are the only proof coins in the series to share the exact obverse and reverse designs.
