The popular marsupial is a strict herbivore, which does have them traveling wide and far in search of grass and other vegetation. Anecdotal depictions of kangaroos have them fierce and fighting, which isnt actually too far from the truth. There are very few natural predators for the kangaroo, as they are quite adept at defending themselves.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2016 Proof Australian Kangaroo Silver Coin features the right-profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait was created by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. The image of Her Majesty is accompanied by engravings that include the face value of the coin, the nation of issue, and her name.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2016 Proof Australian Kangaroo Silver Coin features the 2016 released design of the kangaroo. The Australian Outback serves as the background for the kangaroo. The Outback is quite often used as the backdrop for the coin designs, but the backdrop does change from one year to the next with new designs.
These coins are high relief coins, with a deep design field that is made possible by multiple strikes on the blanks, under intense pressure. The Perth Mint is the oldest operating mint in Australia, having been first founded in 1899 as a part of the Australian Royal Mint system.
