{{/presale}}When it comes to investing in gold, buyers tend to collect from brands they know and trust. There are few brands with a longer history in the precious metals and a more trusted name than Johnson & Matthey. Though the company recently stepped away from the precious metals industry, Johnson & Matthey gold is so popular and sought-after that it remains in circulation in the industry among investors and authorized dealers. Provident Metals currently has 20 oz Gold Bars from Johnson & Matthey available to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 20 oz Gold Bar from Johnson & Matthey through this Provident Metals listing, the bar you receive comes with protective packaging materials. In most cases, this means the bars are wrapped in a protective wrap for the delivery process and are housed in cardboard shipping boxes with discreet labels.
Obverse
For the obverse design element of 20 oz Gold Bars from Johnson & Matthey, the mint logo is the primary design feature. It is found at the top of the bar and consists of an oval shape that has the words Johnson Matthey in the rim design around the edge of the oval. The other inscriptions on this face of the gold bar include 20 oz Tr and the purity of the gold. All inscriptions on this side of the bar have been struck incuse, meaning the design elements and text inscriptions are sunk into the bar beneath the surface. An incuse strike is common in cast bars as it is easy to press the markings into the bar during the cooling process.
Reverse
In the reverse design of 20 oz Gold Bars, you will notice that there are no intentional designs, inscriptions, or other markings. The bars are not without a sense of attraction though. The cooling process a cast bar goes through as the gold settles and cools in the mold often results in unique, one-of-a-kind textures, striations, and other visual cues in the surface of the bar.
History
Johnson & Matthey was founded in 1817 by Percival Norton Johnson. When George Matthey joined in 1851, it became known as Johnson & Matthey. The next year, the company became the official assayer and refiner of the Bank of England. Over the next century and a half, it made a name for itself as a precious metals leader. In late 2015, it agreed to sell its refining and assay facilities to Asahi, a Japanese refiner, and exit the precious metals industry. Its bullion items, both gold and silver, remain stalwarts for modern investors.
